About the Friends

Who We Are

The Friends of Ouabache State Park was established in March 2012 by individuals who loved the park and wished to support it by completing projects, offering events and connecting with the community.

Created by local volunteers who cared about the park's future, the Friends grew to become a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 2015, making your donations tax-deductible.

What We Do

The Friends of Ouabache State Park help our park with special events, trail maintenance and fundraising for park projects and equipment. In the process, the Friends meet new people, grow their appreciation for state parks and find satisfaction in supporting their park.

Honor the Past

The Friends of Ouabache State Park values the history of the park. Our history committee is active in promoting and preserving the park’s past, from its origins at the CCC camp to today’s activities.

Promote the Present

All funds acquired through membership and fundraising go directly to the park. The Friends supply not only financial help but also manpower through volunteers for events and daily maintenance.

Preserve the Future

The Friends conduct promotional programs as well as the Junior/Teen Indiana Master Naturalist camps. We assist in the interpretive programs at the park and offer educational programs through Nature Lovers Lunch and Learn.

Our Mission

The Friends of Ouabache State Park are stewards of our natural and cultural resources, serving our community to provide interpretation and volunteer opportunities in an effort to remember past contributions and to promote and preserve our park for future generations.
